Travel Safe on Your Life’s Path

Life is a journey; we all have to make,
there’s a beginning, an end, and exploits between.
Our days can pass slowly, or fly by; in the blink of an eye,
as memories are made, to hold in our heart.

It’s an adventurous time; with people to meet and sights to see,
there’ll be paths to walk, and dreams to dream.
We’ll have achievements to make, and goals to attain,
mountains to climb and families to make.

There’ll be emotions we’ll feel, strong and deep,
from friendship and love to anger to grief.
At times, the trek will be hard, and there’ll be problems to solve,
but memorable milestones, will be created; along our way.

Our bodies will age, and perhaps; our minds will decline
but our soul will remain, as we continue the trip.
The lessons we’ll learn to pass down through the years,
and smiles we’ll bring to a young one’s face.

Our journey may be long or shorter than we expect,
but as long as we travel it safely and reach the end,

Writer Victory!—#1 Voluntarily Submit

I learn through anecdotes, examples, illustrations, images and I LOVE acrostics. My husband and I like to go to the Thursday service at our church, namely because the week has usually pounded us soundly enough that we need some spiritual encouragement. The group we attend is small, but the point is to nurture us so we can serve as guides and be the light for others.

Anyway, this week, the lecture used an acrostic for VICTORY. I was taken aback how remarkably this acrostic applied to my own fifteen-year-journey as an author. I wanted to share an author variation with you guys, because, in a world of “instant success” it is easy to become lost, discouraged and want to give up.

Today, we will discuss V, which stands for “Voluntarily submit.”

A Truly Obscene Four Letter Word……FEAR!!

It’s not a cliché, fear really is debilitating. It can stop us from experiencing so much.  Imagine if we actually were, or even believed ourselves, immune to it? There’s so much more we could accomplish, we’d travel more, succeed more, love more, communicate more, be healthier (we hope) and not to mention; be wealthier, both financially and emotionally. Nothing would be beyond our grasp.

And trust me everyone feels fear at some stage in their life, in one way or another. It doesn’t matter if you can free-climb a mountain, jump out of a plane, or even if you’re a self-made millionaire, there was a time when caution raised its little head and made you wonder about the risks involved…….don’t tell me it didn’t?

I myself have wanted to write ‘the novel’ for years, but something always got in the way, or so I convinced myself. Excuses are a wonderful thing aren’t they? You know the sort I mean; not enough money in the bank, not having the right skills, what would the family think, too tired to type. Blah, blah, blah. I could go on forever.

My latest little delaying tactic, is research. You would not believe all the information I’ve gathered. Far too much, to actually read anytime soon. So what has held me up? You guessed it, that horrible little ‘F-word’. And I should know better, in fact I really need to walk my talk. If I was one of my own clients, I’d give myself a nice little talking to.

But as Ambrose Redmoon wrote in; ‘No Peaceful Warriors’ (1991), “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear”.

True, there are some fears that you need help to overcome, a major one being; phobias, which range from the common (spiders) to the bizarre (toilets, don’t ask), and to the person experiencing them they can be horrendous. But for the……I don’t want to say, less serious, because all fear is scary (pun intended)……..Instead I’ll say qualms or uncertainties, there some things you can do to help yourself.

Meditation is an incredible tool and it doesn’t have to be hard or long-winded. Even 5 minutes to centre you breathing when faced with am apprehensive situation helps.

Using regular affirmations help, such as:

  •  I am a strong, capable woman/man, and I can achieve anything
  •  I am safe, I am secure, and I am well protected by spirit/the Universe.
  • My goals/dreams are within my reach.
  • Fear is just a word, no more, no less.

Just remember affirmations must be present tense, have unlimited scope, and do not include negative references.

And let’s not forget to utilise; the Law of Attraction, or manifestation, or using ritual (if, so inclined), even colour and crystal therapy can help you. Believe it or not, you even have intuition spots on your body, that can help you when faced with difficult situations, but that’s for a different post.
