Spring Equinox, New Moon, March 20, 2015

Spring Equinox copia

March is an extremely busy month astrologically.  It is the spring equinox, a new moon, and an eclipse all on March 20, 2015. It occurs when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor toward the Sun, and, astrologically, when the Sun reaches 0° Aries. Its name is derived from Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), as night and day are about equal length at this Spring midpoint. Other names for the Spring Equinox are Alban Eilir, Gwyl Canol Gwenwynol, Lady Day, Meán Earrach, and Ostara.

The moon turns new only 14 hours after reaching lunar perigee – moon’s closest point to Earth in its orbit. Thus this moon is a supermoon – at the new phase – not visible in our sky, but having a larger-than-average effect on Earth’s oceans. Plus this new supermoon swings right in front of the equinox sun on March 20…

A Pink Orb, UFO; or A Peek-A-Boo Planet?

As I’ve mentioned before, the full moon has a very strange affect on me, but before you ask; No, I do not grow talons and fangs, or suddenly become very hairy……how weird would that be; a vegetarian werewolf?

During last week’s full moon – 5th March – the influence was even more pronounced than usual, to such a degree, that at 1.30am (Australian time), I got out of my bed and went to stand in the back garden of my home, in my PJ’s, to talk to the moon. As it was such a beautiful sight, I took pictures using the camera on my phone.

At the time, other than intense feelings, I noticed nothing unusual, so imagine my surprise when reviewing the images yesterday, I noticed a bizarre pink orb, situated slightly behind the moon.

The pictures I took, are below, and other than cropping them for size, they’ve not been edited in any way.  Although, I have auto-corrected the 3rd picture, which was captured within seconds of the first, and you’ll note; it doesn’t have a pink orb. However, if you look closely, at the lower right corner, you will see ‘something’. I just don’t know what it is.

If anybody has any ideas, about what visited me that night, Please feel free to comment……..I’m kind’ve going with; either a spiritual/angelic orb, or a planet, any guesses?

Are our lives, and the world, in a situation of; Darkest, Before the Dawn?

I recently had an unpleasant experience which made me wonder; is the human race going down the drain at a rate of knots, or are we merely in limbo, just waiting for a new spiritual age to commence.

(When The Fifth Dimension sang; ‘This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius’ in 1969, they were being a bit pre-emptive, because technically; we still have a few more centuries to go before we leave the Age of Pisces – some astrologers may dispute this, though).

Astrological Flower

But I digress…..

Having moved from a very large city (London) to a somewhat smaller one (Perth) I was surprised to note, a divergence between; what I remembered, what I expected, and what the city, I now call home, is actually like.

I expected; less crime, cleaner surroundings and happier, smiling people, but that’s, not what I found. So, I wonder; am I merely missing London, or to humanize it; is London a Grown-up, whilst Perth is still a teenager? And does each city’s, spiritual growth or belief have a bearing on this?

Perth

We claim we want to be more spiritual, compassionate, forgiving and kinder to others, but instead; atrocities are committed on a daily basis. Crime is rampant. Poverty; is still a fact of life in civilised cities, and we’re more inclined to be wary of strangers, rather than greeting them with a smile.

Are we as humans; trying to incorporate beneficial change in both ourselves and our environment, or are we stuck in a never-ending circle, where it’s easier to deflect responsibility, whilst expecting to receive the best the world has to offer.

Will a new astrological age change this?  And, are we just ‘temporarily’ allowing our baser natures to rule us?

As we strive for more and more technological advances, will they actually help us, or will we only crave bigger and better upgrades?

Technology

At what cost to our soul?

Is the propensity for reality-viewing, just an attempt to stem any isolation we feel; via a window to someone else’s world? Or, does it only increase our dissatisfaction with our own lives, thereby creating a society of greed and envy?

Since time began, there’s always been an aspect of humanity, that will do anything to fulfil their yearnings for more, whether it be money, love or success, and it’s endemic the world over, not just restricted to a few particular countries or cities. But, is the long-emerging spiritual movement, minimising the impact this could have on us as a whole?

Whilst it’s true that spirituality, or religion, if you prefer, has eternally been a cornerstone of society, is it now ushering in a new mindset? Are we looking for new ways to achieve what we want?

Are we ready to farewell the seven sins, and face the sunrise of a new dawn?

The Element of Air

The dominion of Air is a gentle and delicate place, situated between the spiritual and physical planes. It’s known to be both; intellectual, and uniquely individual. It’s symbolic of our thought processes, and new beginnings, and it’s long been linked to ‘our breath’, which gives us life. In ancient times, Air was understood to be the equivalent of; our soul or spirit.

When a newborn was gently slapped by a midwife, or attending physician, it was said; evil or sin was being expelled, and when a mother softly breathed into her infant’s mouth, then she was giving ‘the breath of life’ to the child’s soul or spirit.

When the soul left the body, it was believed that; by holding a mirror against the mouth of the dying, their spirit could be captured in the mirror. This action is still carried out today, in certain places to determine if a person is still breathing…..unfortunately it’s not widely known, that a mirror is a ‘soul trap’, according to folklore, of course.

Air; is alleged to be the connection between, thought and action, enabling spiritual inspiration to become the physical, and people born to the element of Air, will be innovative, creative and intelligent.

Other Personality Traits of Air…..

  • People with a predominance of Air are great thinkers, and they communicate well, analyze everything and theorize non-stop.
  • They have the ability to change circumstances with amazing speed, and they’ll usually land on their feet.
  • Air folk, love freedom, both for themselves, and others.
  • They have a strong sense of justice and fair play, and they firmly believe in truth and honesty.
  • They can seem elusive, and hard to pin down. This makes them appear maddening at times
  • They love the abstract and the unusual, but have a hard time making commitments…..in fact, they frequently procrastinate.
  • They’re quite pragmatic, and rely on rationality, before their emotions when facing a complex situation.
  • They live in their head, rather than their heart.
  • Air people are both, creative and imaginative.

Mercury Retrograde can affect us all, so don’t get complacent.

I’m running a bit late with this post, as I acquired – through no fault of my own, I might add – a seasonal cold, and once you have one, it seems to take on a life of its own.

Although, I shouldn’t really be surprised that it arrived, as we’ve moved into Mercury Retrograde, and I should know; that this wonderful little planet can always find a way to throw a spanner in the works…..I guess I should be pleased it’s only a cold. But, there’s still a few more weeks to go yet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there’s no more ‘little mishaps’ on the horizon.

And, being born when Mercury is Retrograde, or when its energy still lingers, will only give you a slight advantage over those who were born when the planet was direct.

This planetary event can occur 3, and sometimes 4 times a year, and not always at the same time, so unless you’re aware it’s approaching you can’t prepare for it. You just know that frustrating things are happening in your life.

During this, sometimes ominous period; Mercury appears to slow down, stop and then travel backwards before seeming to proceed forward again, and as this astrological imp, rules all travel and communication issues it can cause problems in these areas.  When you consider that travel, can mean anything from buses to planes, and communication includes everything from computers to conversations, you can really get yourself in a pickle.

During this irritating time, it’s not a good idea to sign contracts,  or make plans, and don’t buy expensive machinery or equipment, appointments can be cancelled and luggage can be lost, but it’s not all bad news; Mercury Retrograde is also a great time to re-think things.  It enables us to slowly look at what might need mending, particularly in relationships & friendships.  Even things that were lost can be found.

If you’ve had ideas or projects sat on a shelf because you’re not sure how to move them forward, then Mercury Retrograde is a great time to re-visit them, and view them with a fresh eye, but even so I ask that you have respect for this important phase because sometimes; ‘the mouth opens & words come out that you regret’. Always think about what you’re saying & doing during a Mercury Retrograde transit, and be prepared for the unexpected.

The best advice I can give is; use the time wisely, have a spring clean, both physically & emotionally, take time to reflect on the past, review plans & goals and remember anything that you sign or start while this planet is retrograde made need to be re-done when it moves forward again.

A final bit of really important advice:  please back-up your computer before a retrograde period as in today’s modern society, it along with your mobile phone is a major communication device, and Mercury is the Messenger……..for good or bad.

During the rest of 2014 we still have 2 retrograde periods (as follows) to traverse and I hope they treat you well.  Expect to feel the affect, at least 7 days before and after these dates.

Currently until 1st July 2014 (Southern Hemisphere)

4th October 2014 until 25th October 2014

Eclipses – Expect the Unexpected

Depending on where you live in the world, you may lucky enough to experience an incredible Solar eclipse on the 29th April 2014, but unfortunately for those in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s primarily based in the following regions: South Asia, Australia, The Pacific, The Indian Ocean and Antarctica, however this doesn’t mean that its energy will not have some kind of effect on your life, even if it’s only minimal.

Solar Eclipse

Solar Eclipse

This particular eclipse will occur when the moon is almost at its farthest distance from the earth, thereby not being a total eclipse, and only partially visible to certain parts of the world. In fact the only place it will be fully seen is a small area of Antarctica.

A solar eclipse always happens at the time of a New Moon, a lunar eclipse; during a full moon and both can have a life changing affect on us, but more than anything it’s a time when you should ‘expect the unexpected’.

To be honest, eclipses can give you a feeling of ‘lack of control’ in your life. Events will occur, over which you have no bearing…….they just happen!! That doesn’t mean they have to be bad, sometimes they can be quite good, it’s just that they’re not planned for.

And these occurrences, can provide what we need to move forwards in life, even if it’s just; ‘un-sticking’ our current circumstances….don’t you sometimes feel that you’re ‘stuck’ and no matter what you try you’re just spinning your wheels? An eclipse can you help with that, even though it may not be immediately noticeable.

During this momentous time, someone or something can either leave or enter your life, i.e.: you get a new job, or leave one. You could divorce or marry, become self-employed, employed or even unemployed. There are no rules or restrictions towards what might change.

One good thing about eclipses though is that they can point out, or show you, what isn’t working and what can be improved upon…..you might suddenly get an idea for a new business, or realize a new dream, unexpectedly come into money……there are no barriers during this time, but beware; the reverse can also be true, and you could lose a source of income.

I do suggest however that you don’t take steps to start something new under an eclipse, it’s better to wait at least 7 days, or even a few weeks because the situation can change at any moment.  Give yourself some breathing room to mull things over. Don’t make definitive decisions, always leave a way out during eclipse season.

Unfortunately, the message you receive from an eclipse, may not eventuate until a month and a day after the actual event, and in some small cases it may even have been delivered up to a month and day beforehand, but this is entirely dependent on your astrological make-up. In some extreme cases, it’s even possible for an eclipse to affect you for up to 6 months later, but that would again depend on other planetary events occurring.

So watch your life for the next few weeks rather like an observer, and see what occurs. I’ll be watching mine, and I’ll be waiting for the fun to erupt.
